The main differences between pressure spraying and centrifugal spraying
The following are the main differences between pressure spraying and centrifugal spraying:
Principle: Pressure spraying operates by using a high – pressure pump to force the liquid material through a nozzle at a high speed. As the liquid exits the nozzle, shear force comes into play, causing the liquid to break into small droplets. In contrast, centrifugal spraying makes use of a high – speed rotating centrifugal disc. The liquid is thrown out from the edge of the disc due to centrifugal force, and this action results in the formation of fine droplets.
Droplet Features: Pressure spraying generates relatively large droplets, with a size range of 50 – 500μm, and the distribution of these droplets is narrow. On the other hand, centrifugal spraying produces finer droplets, typically between 10 – 200μm, but the size distribution is wider.
Suitable Materials: Pressure spraying is well – suited for materials with high viscosity or those containing a small amount of particles, such as sauces. Centrifugal spraying is more appropriate for heat – sensitive liquids like milk. The reason is that it dries the material quickly, minimizing the thermal damage during the drying process.
Equipment Characteristics: Pressure spraying equipment has a simple structure and a lower cost. However, its nozzle is prone to clogging. Centrifugal spraying equipment is more complex and consumes more energy, but it has a large processing capacity and stable performance, making it suitable for large – scale production.
Operation and Control: In pressure spraying, the atomization effect is controlled by adjusting the pressure of the pump. For centrifugal spraying, the atomization is regulated by adjusting the rotation speed of the disc, and this requires a higher level of precision in the equipment.
